Today is the day legendary actress and TV-personality Betty White would have turned 100 years old. Sadly, she passed away on New Year’s Eve 2021, at the age of 99 and still too soon.
White’s television career spanned over eight decades and she was a pioneer in many ways. Among other, she was the first woman to produce a sitcom and one of the firsts to have her own daytime talk-show.

She was someone who cared deeply about social issues, including anti-rasism and LGBTQ rights. But she cared also for animals and championed animal welfare all her life.

This is why fan of hers worldwide are today donating to animal charities in her honour in what is called ‘The Betty White Challenge’.
To celebrate what would have been her 100th birthday, I donated to the Uppsala katthem, a cat shelter in Uppsala. Cats have always been dear to my heart, as those who know me surely know.
You can participate too by donating to a animal rescue or shelter of your choice and share online. If you’ll share on social media, use the hashtag #BettyWhiteChallenge.
Let’s help animals today in remembrance of a great woman and amazing actress!
Happy birthday and rest in peace, Betty White 🙏
