Books I read/listened to in januari 2023

I usually read more books than I have the time to write about. So, I thought I’d once in a while write shortly about books I read or listened to during a certain period of time. Today, I’d like to share my reading experiences of 2023’s first month: Dual-aspect Monism and the Deep Structure ofFortsätt läsa ”Books I read/listened to in januari 2023”

Arthur Eddington on the mystical experience

Interesting quote by physicist Arthur Eddington on the truth revealed in the mystic experience. From an academic book I’m currently reading, and quite honestly struggling with because it’s very intellectually challenging.

Book recommendation: ‘Old Ones in the Old Book: Pagan roots of the Hebrew Old Testament’ by Philip West

This book retraces the origins of the worship of Yahweh not from a strict monotheistic religion, but a polytheisitic one where He was among many other Deities. The likely political, cultural and historical reasons why He went from being the protector God of Israel to being seen as the only and one true God areFortsätt läsa ”Book recommendation: ‘Old Ones in the Old Book: Pagan roots of the Hebrew Old Testament’ by Philip West”

What the religious authorities fear

Recently I’ve been reading this book, Spirit Marriage: Intimate Relationships with Otherworldly Beings by Dr. Megan Rose and it’s a fascinating read so far (I’m about halfway through). I really wanted to make clearer both the Oneness and Plurality of the Divine in the message, which I realised focused farFortsätt läsa ”Last Words of the Sage – updated version”

Excerpt from chapter eight: Fighting evil

Much of chapter eight deals with the issue of violence and when it is proper to use it. But it is not only a question of when but also why. Violence born out of hatred is not the same as violence used to defend oneself and the ones we love. ”Deshi, never let hate andFortsätt läsa ”Excerpt from chapter eight: Fighting evil”

Excerpt from chapter four – Seeking the Absolute in a blade of grass

Third post today. I’m home sick so I’ve been doing proofreading while I have the time. I just finished with the fourth chapter, which deals with worship, ritual, religious scriptures and the absurdity of fundamentalism. Here is a short excerpt: Beside the many temples, rituals and festivals there were also many books and hundreds ofFortsätt läsa ”Excerpt from chapter four – Seeking the Absolute in a blade of grass”

Excerpt from chapter three – the simplicity of happiness

This excerpt is quite small but the message needs few words. Here the sage tells the protagonist about the secret to happiness, which like the self needs no finding. “Happiness, like the self, is something people try hard to find and like they do the self they believe it is to be found somewhere inFortsätt läsa ”Excerpt from chapter three – the simplicity of happiness”
