A day of shame for Sweden

A few days ago, I wrote a post about a twelve-year-old girl Swedish authorities had decided to deport to Pakistan despite the fact she was born and had lived her entire life here. Today, the order was carried out and Duaa and her mother were deported. Despite protests and a petition that gathered over 30.000Fortsätt läsa ”A day of shame for Sweden”

Swedish authorities are okay with causing child abuse – as long as it doesn’t happen on Swedish soil

Twelve-year-old Duaa was born in Sweden and has lived her whole life in the city of Gällivare. Her mother came here from Pakistan to flee from forced marriage, but Duaa has never been to her mother’s homeland and doesn’t know the language. Yet, Swedish authorities have decided to deport her to Pakistan. The flight isFortsätt läsa ”Swedish authorities are okay with causing child abuse – as long as it doesn’t happen on Swedish soil”

Another proof that ”cancel culture” does not exist.

Conservatives will have you believe that saying things that are offensive to minorities will have you ”cancelled”, that social justice activists will drive you from your home and get you fired from your job. They want you to live in fear that trans people are everywhere ready to ruin your life if you so muchFortsätt läsa ”Another proof that ”cancel culture” does not exist.”

One tram change, 11 years of life

The place I work at right now is rather fancy and caters mostly to the upper-class, including the super rich. Like the kind of people who – I kid you not – owns a different luxury sports car for each day of the week. I’d known before that this obscene amount of wealth existed evenFortsätt läsa ”One tram change, 11 years of life”

Poem: Sleeping with Ghosts

Content warning: death, suicide, transphobia This is the text I was trying to write for Transgender Day of Rememberance, but I couldn’t find the words then. Sleeping with ghosts I have a head full of ghostsAnd the air I breath is full of ghosts.Do you not see? Can you not hear?Everywhere I go, they goFortsätt läsa ”Poem: Sleeping with Ghosts”

Book recommendation: ‘The New Queer Conscience’ by Adam Eli

A very short book (more of a booklet, really) but with a clear and powerful message: queer people anywhere are responsible for queer people everywhere. Drawing inspiration from his Jewish faith, Eli proposes for the international queer community a way forward characterised by solidarity, intercommunal responsibility and radical empathy. Considering how queer people are treatedFortsätt läsa ”Book recommendation: ‘The New Queer Conscience’ by Adam Eli”

Trans Day of Rememberance 2022

**Content warning: mentions of suicide, murder, transphobia** Today is Trans Day of Rememberance. I thougth I’d write something, maybe a poem to honour the trans people who have lost their lives to murder or suicide. But I could find no words. When I go through the list of those whom the world has lost (thatFortsätt läsa ”Trans Day of Rememberance 2022”

Sadness – but also hope

The Swedish elections are nearly over. A few districts’ votes have yet to be counted but since the last votes to come in are from the Swedish nationals living in foreign countries – a group which is majority upper-clas and right-wing – the results will likely remain the same: Sweden will now have a right-wingFortsätt läsa ”Sadness – but also hope”

When did popular billionaire J.K. Rowling ever get ”cancelled”?

You might have heard that J.K. Rowling recently published a new book, part of a crime series written under her pen name Robert Galbraith. The over 1000 pages long novel tells the story of an artist, who like J.K. Rowling, gets ”cancelled” online by trans people. The difference is that the fictional artist in theFortsätt läsa ”When did popular billionaire J.K. Rowling ever get ”cancelled”?”

Actually, no

Every day I wrestle with myself, trying to manage the anxiety I feel about the upcoming election. I make plans in case of the worst case scenario. Plans of taking my savings and starting anew in another place. Which I’ll still do if things get really bad and there is a serious threat to myFortsätt läsa ”Actually, no”
