One of the most common writing tips is to give yourself small rewards for reaching goals. For example, having a piece of candy every 100 words. The thing with writing tips, though, is that they rarely work for everybody. I’ve tried this and it didn’t work for me at all. Today I went and sat by the sea to write for a bit. Then I took a walk on the beach in search of things to put on that altar I’m still working on. I ended up tumbling upon some interesting things.
I had set the goal of finishing the second-last chapter of the novella over the weekend and I almost did. Just a few paragraphs stand in the way. Here it is again: my favourite day of the week. Named after my patron Deity, it is also the start of the week-end with all the optimism it carries. I’m looking forward to finally have some free time. I finished another chapter of my novella today and had a saffron semla to reward myself. A day well spent.
Finished this novel today. It’s pretty good. Not particularly scary and not one of King’s best works. But to be fair, I read The Outsider right before reading this one so my expectations may have been too high since that was probably the best book Stephen King has released in the last decade.
